Zona Deportiva is a social enterprise that develops sports facilities and sports programs to address the lack of sports infrastructure and sports promotion in Nicaragua. Sixty percent of the population does not have access to sport facilities, and sports participation traditionally is very low among women, children and adolescents. The company has four sports complexes in four cities, 15 arenas, 75 employees, 2.0M+ visits in its first 5 years, more than 400,000 players who have participated in sports programs and inclusion of 240,000 children, adolescents and women in sports. Its 37 corporate business partnerships include such companies as Unilever, Pepsi, Gatorade, Burger King and Pizza Hut.
