Professor Chaves Villamizar joined Kellogg in 2018 after receiving a Ph.D. in Economics from Stanford University and an A.B. magna cum laude in History from Harvard College. His research areas are information economics, market design, and political economy. He is especially interested in dynamic pricing and the effects of transparency on dynamic markets. His current work focuses on how to design market rules when these rules can affect the composition of traders in the market across time. His political economy work has studied, among other things, the persistence and effects of pre-colonial institutions on economic development in West Africa.
